Day 5- Decided to try a new vegetable- swisss chard. Umm, I'll think I will stick to spinach. 'nuff said.
Day 6- Decided to pick up a new book- slightly "non fiction/self help" genre. "7 habits of highly effective people". Let's see if I learn anything.

Success In the Kitchen
Ok I am pretty sure I am writing these to myself and myself only, but that's ok. I am doing this for myself- to be held accountable and actually finish something!
So yesterday my new thing I decided to try: attempting to cook risotto!! It's a tedious dish to make and is difficult to boot. First things first, I LOVE to be in the kitchen. It's a passion and I love trying new recipes and techniques. In case you haven't had it before, risotta is made with a special rice, called arborio rice. You cook it slowly over the stove by adding a broth to it, slowly releasing the starch in the rice making it a creamy rice dish. Risotto is one of those dishes that I always get when I go out to eat and but have been way too imitidated to try at home. So I decided to give it a whirl!
For the first 40 minutes- I was sure I failed. I was hungry and all I wanted to do was watch the Bachelor. On top of that, my roommates were eager to try my dish as well. Ugh I hate failing at things! But in the last 5 minutes some sort of culinary miracle occurred and the rice softened. I hate to brag but it ended being delicious. Mmm leftovers today. :-)

Day One: starting this blog
I am not sure where or when I heard the quote, "Try One New Thing Each Day", but how many of us actually do this? So this is my blog. 365 days of trying new things. One new thing each day. I've never created a blog but I figure it is the best way to be held accountable for what I am attempting to do. I have a bad habit of not finishing projects I start. So here goes nothing.
It's January 3rd...so is that cheating? On January 1st I actually WROTE out my New Year's resolutions and printed them out and hung them up on my wall. I have to now stick to them right?? Yesterday I wore a new shirt and went to a new bar. How lame is that? Thats what sparked this blog. How many times do I think how I want to try new things. I love to try new things, but I don't do it as often as I should. And at the end of the day the only thing I have ended up doing is wearing that new shirt. I have no idea what will become of this blog or what new things I really will try and take on but I am excited about my little experiment.
My new thing today: starting this blog.
